Mental Health

At Anchorsholme Academy, we are committed to supporting the emotional health and wellbeing of all our pupils and staff. We know that everyone experiences life challenges that can make us vulnerable and at times, anyone may need additional emotional support. We take the view that positive mental health is everybody’s business and that we all have a role to play.

At our school we:

  • Help children feel comfortable sharing any concerns or worries.
  • Help children to understand their emotions and feelings better.
  • Encourage children to be confident and ‘dare to be different’.
  • Help children socially to form and maintain relationships.
  • Promote self esteem and ensure children know that they count.
  • Help children to develop emotional resilience and to manage setbacks.

National Sleep Helpline

One in four children in the UK are not getting enough sleep, this has an impact on their behaviour and ability to learn, as well as their physical health.

The new National Sleep Free Helpline is run by trained sleep advisors who can talk to young people directly, or parents (we can also talk to parents about their own sleep issues).

The helpline is open 5 nights a week, Sunday to Thursday, 7-9pm and the number is 03303 530 541.

Further information can be found here: https://thesleepcharity.org.uk/national-sleep-helpline/
